If you were to choose between a field in Public Issues or a field in environment, which one would you pick?

I have to pick between The Governor’s School of Public Issues or The Governor’s School on the Environment. Which one should I pick. Thanks

i’d rather choose the first one,
because public issue is a very wide thing…so you can choose or modify it according to your needs…
Public Issue never be a boring thing,it’s more interesting for presentation or just in paper work…

But it depends on the material you already have, see how far you can go with that materials…
made systematically planning so you won’t block-out in the middle…
Good Luck ^ ^

Without an understanding of what is normal in the local environment, you would not be able to determine if it was being affected by global conditions.

What are the industries that have big criticism? e.g: Environment issues/human rights?

Posted by admin on June 17th, 2010 and filed under environment issues | 2 Comments »

like violence, slavery , too low wages, health issues.
Like Wal-mart, ExxonMobile, Mcdonald.

While I agree that Exxon has had some environmental issues of great import, I cant see where Wal-mart & Ronald McDonald have had the same issues or human rights abuses.

People may not like them for various reasons & may want to disparage them, but human rights violations? Thats straight out to the kooky fringe area…

what environment issues has stainless steel and titanium caused?

Posted by admin on June 9th, 2010 and filed under environment issues | 1 Comment »

would be great if u guys can ask this too
why are silicone suitable for making implantation material?give website pls.. ty :)

The mining of titanium and aluminum requires huge holes to be dug and this may disrupt life or natural geographic occurences. The smelting of titanium requires a lot of heat and that heat is from burning fossil fuels, which pollutes the world and contributes to global warming. Think of how much fossil fuels you’d need to burn to get to titanium’s 3034 degree fahrenheit melting point. Also, the process of refining and making alloys requires more or less the same amount of heat to melt and mix metals together. This actually goes for all metals.

These are some of the most useful properties of silicone:

Thermal stability (Constancy of properties over a wide operating range of –100 to 250°C)
Though not lipophilic, the ability to repel water and form watertight seals
Excellent resistance to oxygen, ozone, and sunlight
Flexibility
Good electrical insulation
Anti-adhesive
Low chemical reactivity
Low toxicity
High gas permeability: at room temperature (25°C) the permeability of silicone rubber for gases like oxygen is approximately 400 times that of butyl rubber, making silicone useful for medical applications (though precluding it from applications where gas-tight seals are necessary).

Excellent resistance to oxygen, ozone, and sunlight ;
flexibility ; anti-adhesive ; low chemical reactivity ; low toxicity are the main points why silcone is used for implants
