The Sunnyside Environmental School is an expansion of the Environmental Middle School, which has been in operation since 1995. The Environmental Middle School curriculum has successfully moved a diverse student body through the exuberant years of early adolescence, utilizing an academically challenging educational model intended to develop a sense of community, responsibility and creativity. The philosophy, teach practices and commitment to environmental education that built the Environmental Middle School is now being infused in all grades including K through 5th grades.
While our overall plan will take years to accomplish, we do have a general outline to begin. We will have theme gardens, a native plant garden, lots of sunflowers to start, and a simple, art-filled patio area with seating.
